Q. Why is the Hook app required to watch videos on my Android device?

Hook enables you to safely and easily watch our video content on the widest possible range of Android devices. For more information on Hook, please click here.

Q. The video playback is choppy, grainy, or stalling. What can I do to fix it?

If you are experiencing problems with stalling or choppy playback, please try the following:

  • Clear your browser cache. You can clear your cache under the Tools, Preferences, or Edit menu of your browser.
  • Make sure that your computer or device meets the minimum system requirements listed above.
  • Try closing any unnecessary programs, applications, apps to free up resources.
  • Check your Internet connection speed. You will need a minimum continuous download speed of 350kbps (kilobits per second) to view our videos without problems. There are sites on the Internet for testing your Internet connection speed, such as http://www.speedtest.net and http://www.xostats.xo.com. (Note: These are third-party sites and are not monitored or maintained by us. We do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of any information contained on these websites.)

Q: What is the Flash Player?

Flash is a platform developed by Adobe that displays multimedia, animation, and video on computers and devices that run the Flash player. Because the Flash player supports content protection technologies and a richer set of features than HTML5, it is the default player for devices that support it. You need Flash version 10.0.0 or later installed to play our videos. You can check the version of flash you have installed here and you can download the latest Flash version here.

Q: Why do I see black bars around my video?

If you see black bars on the top and bottom of the screen, the video doesn't have the same aspect ratio as the player, and the black bars represent empty space that fill in the gaps. None of the video content is being covered or obscured by the black bars.

Q: What is Watch Live?

Watch Live channels are not pre-recorded. You can view these channels live, as they are being broadcast. We offer a special type of live streaming service that allows you to access the Watch Live channel with digital video recording (DVR) functionality, allowing you to pause, rewind, and fast forward. Watch Live videos are also immediately available as part of our video-on-demand (VOD) library, so that you can access them after they originally air.
